Casting on

in 2: Learn to Knit

There are many cast-ons that are chosen to teach beginners but I think the one chosen is best. Many times a cast-on using the slingshot method or longtail cast-on is used and the absolute beginner has a hard time remembering how to cast-on again and again. In my experience some people never learn to cast on and wait for a friend or relative to do it for them. It’s inconvient and not very encouraging. This knit cast-on resembles the knit stitch, so that when you learn the knit stitch you are very close to the cast-on method, making it easier to remember. Please watch the following video tutorial on learning the knit cast-on on needles. (for more information on yarn and needles chosen please visit the overview video).

  1. Hello,
I am absolutely new to knitting.
I never held a needle and yarn in my hand.
My question is what kind of needle and yarn do you recommend for first timers.

    Thanks for your time.
