Dress Up Your Table with Loom Knit Lacy Placemats!

Inside: Free pattern for the loom knit Lacy Placemats. Includes written instructions, lace chart and tutorial videos demonstrating the lofty lace stitch pattern.

The Lacy Placemat creates the perfect background for your elegant table settings.  Whether you are hosting a family holiday or just having a friend over for coffee, your table will look beautiful.  This placemat uses a medium-weight mercerized cotton yarn that washes well and shows off the beautiful lace design.

From casual to formal the Lacy Placemat always looks perfect!

This easy loom knit project uses the lofty lace stitch pattern. You’ve seen this stitch pattern before in the Lofty Lace Blanket pattern, but look how a change of yarn and gauge changes the entire look of the design.

See how the lace eyelets are more open with the lighter weight yarn.

The thicker blanket yarn makes a more dense lace fabric.

Pattern contains written instructions, lace chart, and links to fully-captioned tutorial videos for both right and left handed loom knitters showing the lace stitch pattern.

18 sts x 38 rows in 4” (10 cm) in lofty lace pattern

Approx. 12.5” x 17.5” (31.75 x 44.5 cm)

Sizing: the lace stitch pattern uses a multiple of 6 +3.  If you want to adjust the size of the placemat, every additional 6 stitches cast on adds approx. 1.25” (3.2 cm) and each 12-row repeat adds about 1.25” (3.2 cm).  Check your largest plate or charger to see if you need to adjust the size.

Flexee Loom setup:  I recommend setting up your Flexee loom so each repeat of the lace stitch pattern is on a different link color.  (See image.)  Start with 1 light link, then 3 dark links.  Continue alternating groups of 3 light links followed by 3 dark links until you have 5 dark groups and 4 light groups.  Finish with 1 more light link at the end.  The blue stitch marker marks Peg 1 of the lace stitch pattern.
