The Techniques

CAST ON – Longtail cast on

STITCHES – If you already know how to knit a garter border and make a stockinette field (all knit stitches on the Right Side between garter stitch on ends) then you can do this project. We will cover making an increase with yarn overs as well as two types of decreases. We will make a right leaning k2tog decrease and a left leaning ssk decrease. We’ll also increase with the Kfb but not in main stitch pattern as it is only used in beginning.

REPEATS – The Project is a 4 row repeat over 10 stitches .  Every other row is purled on the Wrong Side so that part is a snap if you know how to purl See slower purl video HERE if needed. The right side rows are nearly the same and we will cover them both.

BIND OFF – Casting off/Binding off is just a standard knit wise bind off of which we’ll cover and weave in the tails as well. I’ll also cover wet blocking.  If you need more of a visual and instructions CLICK HERE to WET BLOCK your blanket to open the lacework and set the stitches evenly.

Hi I sent previous message but not sure it has gone through, so will repeat.

I have been knitting for many years. I wouldn't tackle anything. Have been asked to knit this for baby on the way. I looked at pattern seemed quite easy only 4 rows and every other row purl. However, I have tried several times to set the pattern. Couple of times it didnt look right. This am I knitted counting as I went along and have ended up with one stitch less. I have been following your tutorial but can I download pattern, I am knitting on ordinary needles not circular needle.

Hope this makes sense and you can help. Its 11.22 am here. I like you am in Lockdown. Stay safe Janet

Are their always 180 stitches on the knitting needles at all times? With all the increases & decreases I may miss a stitch and would like to make sure so that I can correct anything I may be doing wrong. I love this pattern and want to do it right. Thanks for any tips you can give me Luisa

I've got a question. Every time I get to the third row, I finish up to the final 10 border stitches, only to find 9. I've been putting markers on every "loop" of 10 stitches, to make sure I've done each correct and have been going back and counting each time I finish a loop.

My row 1s are always fine, as are the 2s and 4s of purling, it's only happening on row 3. I feel like I may just have to keep adding a stitch at the end of row 3? Am I doing something wrong? I keep counting and find that towards the end of row 3, it always becomes 179 stitches instead of 180.

Thanks!
